Monday Update: Live Streaming from My Studio on Twitch Take 2

Hey all! Alright, so we’re giving the live streaming from my studio on Twitch another go this week and crossing our fingers for good results. My husband has been working diligently to set up the tech side of things, and we had a Verizon specialist come out this weekend to upgrade our signal. Will it work? We’ll have to see! But if it does, it will be so very cool!

Ultimately, I’m hoping to stream my painting time from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I’m asking anyone interested to just come and hang out, relax, chat a bit, and listen to me ramble occasionally about my art, painting techniques, the art world, or maybe just my little garden. It’s free, and it’s a nice way to support my art-making.

This past weekend, I sent out the member envelopes for my Sweet Escapes print club, with the featured print Tiny Pretzel Cabin. In every envelope, I include a short letter, and this month, I talked about what inspired me to paint Tiny Pretzel Cabin: a desire to have just a little peaceful escape from all the noise of the world.

One of my favorite books is Walden by Henry David Thoreau, and in particular, the chapter titled Solitude. The book chronicles Thoreau’s time living alone in a small cabin in the woods of Massachusetts — and it, too, inspired Tiny Pretzel Cabin. There are many beautiful passages from Solitude that I think help to calm one’s soul and seek some clear thinking and inner peace.

So that’s what I’m hoping to do with these new live streams from Twitch. It won’t be the crazy competing noise of social media. It’s just me in my cozy little corner of the world, trying to make beautiful paintings that make the world a little better. We’ll share some stories, lift each other up, laugh occasionally, and just enjoy a little bit of peace in the world. Maybe a bit like Bob Ross? But just trying to be me as much as I can be.

So cross your fingers for me this week, or feel free to stop in (pending technical glitchiness that we are still working through. I’ll continue to post updates on the success (or temporary failures!) of this new endeavor.

Here is the link to my new Twitch channel. See you soon!

I’m a full-time acrylic realism and trompe l’oeil painter creating whimsical food paintings inspired by real-life creations that I bake, decorate or scoop in my kitchen. All of my paintings are flat, painted with many thin layers of acrylic paint, aiming to look at three-dimensional as possible. I hope you’ll join me on the journey of creating art that brings a little happy magic into the world. I’ll be sharing my process, my insights, and hopefully some things that will inspire you to appreciate the little things around you every day.
